Transform Your Vocabulary

By Anthony Robbins

Transforming your vocabulary is an extremely powerful tool—it can help you move yourself to action or inaction, just through your choice of words. Just as effective speakers move others to action, you can hurl yourself in the direction of a light and healthy body by avoiding the Language of Failure and by using the Language of Success.

The Language of Failure

What is the language you use when you fail to follow through? What language sets you up to expend energy and effort without getting results?

Here are some examples of the Language of Failure:

“try”
“I’m starving”
“I’m famished”
“I could eat a horse!”
“I gotta have something to eat!”
“I’m dying for a burger!”
“I’m going crazy!”

Remember that exaggeration intensifies the emotional urgency to eat.

The Language of Success

With the Language of Success, you talk about your pride, dignity, strength, endurance, commitment, and passion—and you talk with emotion! You create a set of patterns in your vocabulary that support your resolve and commitment to making positive changes in your life.

Some examples of the Language of Success are:

“It’s time to eat”
“I need to eat something to refresh and revitalize my body”
“I need a nutritious meal”

Questions Are the Answer!

Questions are the most potent way you can direct your mental focus. When you ask yourself a question, your brain has no choice but to come up with an answer.

The key is asking the right questions! If you ask yourself, “Why am I so fat?” your brain will come up with a string of answers that will put you in an unresourceful state that will keep you where you are.

If you ask yourself, “How can I create The Body I Deserve and enjoy the process?” your brain will create a string of answers that will show you the way to a light and healthy body and put you in a great state! Ask and you truly shall receive! Become a master question-asker and begin receiving all that life has to offer!
