The Metabolife Triathlon Blog

In the spirit of “I start now”, our Metabolife Marketing Director, Niki Simoneaux, has decided to do her first triathlon this year. She, along with two other women on her training team have agreed to track their progress and experience through this blog in the hopes that it might inspire others to take on healthy lifestyle changes and challenges. As you can imagine the process has its ups and downs, but you will get to hear it all right here.

A few years ago, I witnessed participants of the Nautica NYC Triathlon in Central Park. I was amazed at the number of people who were participating including many with disabilities. I was truly moved and inspired by the sheer power and commitment each one of the participants possessed. I knew...

I have always loved the water & swimming. My Mom put my brothers & me in swimming lessons soon after we started walking. Luckily, I have never had a problem with the breathing and actually enjoy doing laps. Saturday mornings have become my favorite. The team has access to the pool on...

Okay, so far, so good. Two months & two days, the countdown has started. Getting into a routine and actually enjoying it! Even the early starts. I never was one for working out in the evening, but this has changed the way I go through my day & week. I am seriously starting to plan...

The Coach, Andrew, has a plan for us…us being the 25 members of the Level 1 Team. Tuesdays will be dedicated to running, Thursdays on the bike and Saturdays in the pool. What we just found out is that he has added other workouts for us to do in addition to the team training. Andrew has warned...

As fate would have it, I told my boss today that I had submitted my video to be chosen, that it wasn’t, but that I still planned on doing a triathlon. He told me that an endurance team we sponsor, Full Throttle, was holding a ½ day training session at Chelsea Piers in New York this Saturday and...

So, the CNN Fit Nation website just posted that there would be a “sneak peak” at the chosen participants this weekend. Since I was not called and asked to be part of the “sneak peak” episode, I am guessing that means I was not picked. A little bummed. I think the added pressure of being part...

First swim. Ugh. I hope it isn’t too cliché to say I felt like a fish out of water. My goal was to simply go from one side of the pool to the other – any way possible – for as long as I could. I managed 25 minutes, but gave up on freestyle swimming quickly. I feel like I have been in water...

The video is up! And honestly, I have no idea how these will be picked. I told my trainer what I was up to. He asked the obvious, but surprising question…are you going to do it anyway, even if you don’t get picked? I hadn’t really considered it, but it seems a little lame to only be willing...

A little about me. My name is Niki. I work as Director of Marketing for the Metabolife brand. As you may or may not know – Metabolife creates weight management products - so, if I didn’t already have reason enough to think about my weight and health, this job keeps it on my mind all the time...
