The Metabolife Triathlon Blog

I have always loved the water & swimming. My Mom put my brothers & me in swimming lessons soon after we started walking. Luckily, I have never had a problem with the breathing and actually enjoy doing laps. Saturday mornings have become my favorite. The team has access to the pool on Saturdays before the Sports Center is even open. It has become like our own little Olympic Training Center.
We are learning drills & techniques, learning how to rotate our bodies & kick from the hips. We use kickboards & pulleys. It is a whole new language, one that I am quickly learning. Andrew has also divided us up into lanes, depending on your strength and speed. There are 4 lanes, lane 1 being the slowest and lane 4 being the fastest. I am in lane 3, leading the lane if you don’t mind…now my goal is to move up into lane 4. I am competitive by nature, but now I am determined…I am beginning to like this side of me & what the overall training is making me think & do. I am definitely pushing myself harder than I ever have before. I think signing up for the race in April was the best motivator…half mile swim, 18 mile bike ride and 4 mile run…I better get determined!
