The Metabolife Triathlon Blog

Today is a rest day. I am starting to learn how to really listen to my body. I am also feeling, in a bizarre way, what a well-tuned, fine sports car must feel like…putting the best possible things in my body and totally taking care of myself. I am able to perform so much better that I ever have in the past. This brings me to my next subject, nutrition.
I started working with a Nutritionist, Carly, at the same time I started working with Andrew and personal training back in September. I figured I was going to do this the ‘right’ way and why not enlist the help of professionals. It is working. I have lost 23 pounds so far and am not finished yet. (I did put back on a few over the holidays, but they are coming off again just as quickly!) Eating right while training is essential. You do burn so many more calories and continue to burn throughout the day, but you have to be smart about replenishing the fluids and keeping up your energy level. I have just bought a book about training for a triathlon written especially for women…I will pass on the nutrition information once I read that chapter! For now, it is about common sense. For me, that means no junk food and no alcohol…I am in training!!! Also, more whole grains, lean proteins, organic fruits & vegetables and smart snacking. In case I didn’t mention this before, water needs to become your new BFF.
