So, instead of being annoyed by no results, I decided to be really strict about everything this week. Workouts on my own are easier too because now that I have to wake up at 4:45AM two days a week, I am naturally waking up by 5:30AM on the other days. No late nights…no drinking. I am lucky enough to be in this training program and at this point, I want to get all I can out of it. I am also trying to swim after we do our run and bike workouts because the pool is longer at Chelsea Piers and it is much easier to do all the drills.
I also sorted out a way to push myself running. We are supposed to do “long runs” on Sundays on our own. Well, a long run for me is about 2 miles and that is really a short run according to the sheet. So, starting a couple weeks ago, I decided that I was going to “run” for an hour on Sundays and would run as long as I could. Following this approach, eventually, I would be able to do the whole time. The last two Sundays have been great. The first one I did about 35 minutes out of the hour, but covered a total of 4.5 miles. There was something psychological about being about to get through something longer than a 5K. This past Sunday, I ran for 45 minutes of the hour. I covered about the same distance, which was interesting, but nice to be able to run for that long in total. I am still doing it on a treadmill, which I think is a bit easier, but if it stays nice, I will do the long run outside next week.
